Tourette Syndrome Causes

Unfortunately, Tourette Syndrome causes are relatively unknown. Very little is known about what brings about Tourette Syndrome other than the fact that it is genetics that has something to do with it.  Basically, it is a neurological disorder that many times is accompanied with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD.

If you are dealing with Tourette Syndrome then you could be wondering how it happened and if there is something you could have done to prevent it. The answer is absolutely no, there is nothing you could have done to prevent because there is no known cause for it other than biology.  What you need to do is educate yourself immediately and gain support through your local Tuorette’s Society.  Support and education are what will help you through the initial crisis and stress of the initial wave of social and educational challenges.

But, there are some things you can do to make the Tourette Syndrome less noticeable and easier to manage.  The support groups can help more than your psychiatrist in developing a plan to meet your social, educational, and recreational needs.  The psychiatrist is important in the medical aspects of this disorder, but many psychiatrists will not provide practical information on your educational rights and advocacy issues.
