modern architechs build to help prevent building destruction in the event of earthquakes but yeah if it were like back in the 70's then it would be hell.
By: ChrisGS1982. on 30 Sep 08, 08:30:22
I agree they should remake it but God help Los Angeles if an earthquake decides to hit the place now, what with the credit crunch and the economic downturn, it really would be a disaster.

I love this movie. I like the scene where they're in the elevator and at about 5:09 you hear a woman say "Holy mother of God." There's a woman who turns around (seemingly surprised) to look at whoever said that. As if it was not scripted.

Not fun to watch if youre a kid growing up in LA..
By: SCtvrules. on 18 Aug 08, 11:20:24
Excellent earthquake destruction scene. It's cheesy but I love it. A hulk episode with an earthquake used stock footage from this scene.

LOL at 5:33, I thought the special effects were great when I was a kid but that fake "blood" splatter is chintzy even by 70s standards. The ending is funny too- "Turn off the gas!"- smoking man runs inside house - BOOM. Next time drop the cigarette, THEN turn off the gas dude. Failed!

haha, 5:07 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror They have crossed into a land of both shadow and substance, beyond the 5th dimension, beyond the deepest darkest place of the imagination. They have crossed over into, THE TWILIGHT ZONE

I saw this movie when I was 11 years old and loved it ever since! We used to play it all the time- throughing actaul bricks off the roof until one of them hit the sliding glass window below! Boy- were we in trouble! I visit L.A. often and always wonder if I will be there when the Big One hits... YIKES!
By: garyifny. on 12 Jul 08, 07:25:49
Love the fake blood splatters when the elevator hits the ground.
By: massmoviepsycho. on 08 Jul 08, 11:45:03

By: Bemed. on 22 Jun 08, 23:01:57
Some studio (i think universal will not be able to do a remake because the fired which affected them), but other one should do a new movie about an earthquake, it would be cool see how they can destroy in many ways los angeles and its new towers and different places who aren't exist when they made this 70s movie. Anyway, this original had good special effects for its time. Specially the buildings collapsing, wow.

great film--Ava Gardner plays Lorne Greenes daughter-Ava was 6 years younger than Lorne. From what I understand--the part was offered to Katherine Hepburn--who playing Lornes daughter would have been 20 years older than him
