As is typical of all attacks on people who oppose the global warming hysterics, its attack the man, repeat the mantra. You didn't hear a single word of what he said, only what you wanted to hear. Watch the video again, this time with your I-pod off and myspace updating in the background.

this is not evidence against AGW. He talks mainly about money/kyoto etc - there is a brief graph of geological time and temp. It is based on an outdated paper from 1990, which itself only considered the temperature in parts of Europe. Years later, good estimates of global temperature for the last 1000 years have been agreed on by amost everyone, which show the last 10 years much warmer than anything before. I'm not sure what else could count as 'evidence' in video.

There is yet to be a wind farm built that has produced more dollars worth of electricity than it cost to build the windmills in the first place. Denmark did it as a feel-good publicity stunt with there citizens tax money.
By: truthiness79. on 08 Oct 08, 04:07:24
Well the news article you viewed is one. Think about what you're saying.
By: droogish. on 08 Oct 08, 00:35:25
Thats a good point about NSW and wind farms. Denmark gets 20% of it's electricity from windfarms - respect! I'm not sure where people get this idea that there is "no scientific evidence for AGW". I would really like to believe that AGW is a scam..a hype..but as an open minded person looking at what gets published, it is over overwhelmingly supporting AGW. I haven't found a single argument against AGW that can withstand scrutiny.
By: droogish. on 08 Oct 08, 00:25:48
your criteria : 1) "five hundredths of a degree" what does that mean? precision in models? You are ignoring the fact they all consistently show a warming *trend* 2)warming in the next thirty years based on projected greenhouse gas emissions" - let me get this right, the earliest possible time you could even consider changing your mind is 2038? 3) "how the negative effects of this warming are outweighing the positive"..so you accept that there are positive effects of AGW (ergo you accept AGW ???)
By: truthiness79. on 07 Oct 08, 22:58:33
You are missing the point entirely. He acknowledges the need to protect the environment. What he is saying is that without scientific evidence that carbon dioxide causes global warming (and this is the topic, stay on topic), it would be wrong to impose a tax on people. In fact the government is the one preventing renewable technology from developing, google "NSW wind farm could be running by 2009" to understand what I mean. If there was no government investors would have set up renewables alread

If the price tag of not emitting and greenhouse gas is the collapse of civilization as we know it, thats a little to much in my opinion. If it makes you feel good, you can be afraid of the future and drive one of those horrid Prius cars, but know this: I will not allow you to force me to do the same without the criteria that i put forth.
By: droogish. on 07 Oct 08, 15:03:41
Models do vary - although you're trying to make it sound like they are on a downward trend, *all* climate models predict warming over time. There will be consequences for every degree the planet warms. I think you miss my point about falsifiable beliefs. As for being "cost effective"...i find it difficult to put a price tag against preventing a collapse of our eco-system.
By: 81broncoman. on 07 Oct 08, 13:27:28
What would it take to change my mind? A preditcion, to five hundredths of a degree, the warming in the next thirty years based on projected greenhouse gas emissions, and then proof of how the negative effects of this warming are outweighing the positive effects, and then a cost-effective way of countering said effects. I would accept this because twenty years ago the projected greenhouse warming was TWELVE DEGREES C, then it was six, four, three, and now its just 1.5C in the next century.

The man is an ass. Protecting the environment need not be put at odds with standard-of-living quotas. That opposition is false, and also malicious in intent. What is he worried about.. that the billions spent on enviromental conservation is money that could have been spent on social programs? wars? business growth? space stations? video gaming technology? Social programs which incorporate a green shift aspect is eminently sensible, balanced, and fair.

It seems that arguing against climate change caused by humans suffers from a "Proof by Burden of Proof" fallacy. i.e you are wrong because there isn't enough proof. Therefore my argument is right (please overlook the fact I have even less proof). There is a smorgasboard of evidence suggesting humans are chaing the climate. I challenge the skeptics to state what it would take for them to change their minds - are your beliefs falsifiable? This is an essential element of a scientific hypothesis.

The world has been cooling from 2005. THe hottest year on record was 1948, whe ntehre was little CO2 released. GW is just PR from nuclear power.
By: TheGoodnessIsGood. on 29 Sep 08, 06:31:36
Nobody is debating that the environment is paramount and that desecration of it thereof is absolutely unacceptable. What we are talkinga bout here is the bullshit global warming by humans theory that is just a design marketed to us to introduce a global tax, keep us confused and arguing while they murder a million people in Iraq and steal their oil which they will then sell to us when they say "sorry, it was just a scam" while we're already on the kyoto TAX.
By: TheGoodnessIsGood. on 29 Sep 08, 06:29:02
Absolutely. CO2 rises 600 - 1000 years after the temperature, not before, Therefore it is impossible for Co2 to drive temperature. Impossible. People put too much trust in these institutions that are set up by global elites many of whom are VERY MUCH philosophically involved with eugenics AKA Hitler and the Nazis - whose philosophical base was organisations like the thule society and the German chapter of the skull & bones (aka the Bushes). Very dangerous propaganda can cause death!
By: kenny345king. on 27 Sep 08, 16:00:09
global warming is a scam. The earth has been hotter in the past. The amount of Co2 Levels in the atmosphere follow the Heat. Not Heat following rising of Co2. the Sun is the main cause. The hotter the sun the more co2 is released from the sea, and clouds
By: JonThm. on 27 Sep 08, 02:14:31
The wordl has been coolnig since 2005. As CO2 output from man has gone up.
By: bthomson2010. on 25 Sep 08, 08:29:47
still waiting for an intellectual response from you with facts...anytime now...
By: mortalmerlin. on 23 Sep 08, 12:23:19
Anyone that wants to stump up AGW nut just ask 1, why most of the warming occoured pre-war when we had less CO2 and 2. why global temperature is now going down when we have so much CO2.
By: bthomson2010. on 22 Sep 08, 15:25:07
still waiting...
By: bthomson2010. on 20 Sep 08, 18:15:07
You are a real nut case. hahaha, you can't even explain what you supposedly believe in. That is embarrassing!!! Go learn the science before you decide to spew your stupidity because someone like me will always come along to lay the smackdown on the sorry jokes like you. That's alright, run away. Don't try and stand for what you supposedly believe in. Hahaha, you totally embarrassed yourself!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
By: bthomson2010. on 20 Sep 08, 18:12:40
hahaha!!! this is hilarious. You really don't know any of the science behind it, and therefore just attempt to discredit people in hopes that other people will believe that you have proven that these people don't know what they're talking about. I have yet to har any type of scientific fact from you, or attempt to talk about facts. Maybe you should go read and realize that Al Gore has no idea what he's talking about. Why are you running away? Are you tired of me dominating you? what a pansy!!!
By: 2boomback. on 20 Sep 08, 18:07:00
Yes, I know all about the Oregon Petition. You should read about it. Good old Frederick Seitz wrote a cover letter endorsing it. I recommend you read about him. I have. I'm done with you. Come back after you've read a book or two about how humans are degrading our only habitat. What, don't read? Youre missing out. Or, continue to consume the propaganda and deny the best science has to offer. It doesn't really matter but you'd be better off understanding what is occurring. bye
By: bthomson2010. on 20 Sep 08, 17:56:51
Tell me, how exactly are humans effecting the biosphere and how is human interaction causing Global Warming?
