That is very interesting. I think what has happened is that we were warned long ago, that pop/rock will itself and it seems that point has been reached. I played in a band in the 70's and supported Billy at the Toowoomba Showgrounds along with other local bands at the time. On the way back to Brisbane we stopped at a roadhouse and there was Billy buying some burgers. He was such a friendly honest guy always smiling and always happy to give advice to other musos. I'm now in my 50's and have just watched this and had tears running down my face. Abolutely f%%cking awesome!!!!!! He's still alive to me

The god damn media tried to take his comments and make them mean it as if he was jealous and/or trying to down Phelps skills. Thorpe said he didn't think it was possible given the circumstances but that he would be happy if Phelps did it and that he wold be happy to watch him achieve it. For the US "B" relay team to smash the world record is crazy enough, for the US team to then smash it by 6 seconds is superhuman and no way possible without these suits. Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps are both great swimmers, maybe the top two by far. Of course Phelps is a better all round swimmers, but for freestyle I'm not sure he can beat Thorpe in a same competition. He did break Thorpe's record but Thorpe can also improve if not retired.

This is my last word on the subject. I'm English not Australian. I admire top level swimmers from all nationalities (Ian Thorpe, Michael Phelps, Filippo Magnini, Laura Manaudou etc). I strongly object to the outrageously juvenile and libellous comments regarding one of the planets greatest athletes by somebody who has provided not a single shed of evidence to support his ridiculous views.
