Here's a clip of Soft Machine on French Television from 1970. This is my favourite incarnation of the band. Robert Wyatt, Elton Dean, Hugh Hopper, & Mike Ratledge...a few months before Robert left to form Matching Mole. Excellent group interplay and Wyatt at his best on vocals. Elton died last month, so this clip is dedicated to his memory.

Although you have to admit that some of the early punk was in its own way very exciting. There was a period from about 1976 through to 1980 where it was the most interesting stuff around (if you expand punk/new wave to include stuff like Talking Heads and their work with Eno, among others.)

The second number (after "Facelift") is a kind of almost a capella paraphrase by Robert Wyatt of "Pig" from the Volume Two album (followed by a free-form interlude into the next song, whatever it might be - thought I caught a hint of "Out-bloody-rageous" in Hugh Hopper's bass towards the end of "Pig").

Theatre of tragedy changed a lot. Ive followed them since Lament of the perishing roses and the Aegis album. Cassandra, Lorelei, Venus, Siren, And when he falleth, Bring forth ye shadow. All those great songs. And its nothing compared to what they do now. Vergard, the main guitar cut his awesome hair and got an emo look. Not because Liv left the band, but theirnew album wasnt good at all. I like Leaves Eyes a lot. Liv has a great voice and she will sound good in any band.

Este tema es muy bonito y triste a la vez dentro de lo pesado que es el efecto de la guitarra, pero es muy logrado sobre todo la armonizacion de la voz de liv con el piano y la respuesta ghutural del hombre. es uno de los mejores himnos del rock gotico.

10 years ago, my dad bought a box set of 3 James Taylor albums - "Sweet Baby James", "Walking Man" and "In the Pocket". For some reason, he never listened to those CD's. A couple of months ago, I discovered the box set, opened it, and started to listen JT. I started with "Sweet Baby James" and I was totally pleasant. A wonderful album. 15 minutes ago, I played for the first time "Shower the People". I fell in love with it instantly. This guy is fantastic. I'm so glad that he still makes music!

Well, I must say that not everything is pure shit. Honestly, I love this song (i actually took the time to play this on the piano) but i'm also into power metal (symphonic mostly, but i enjoy most of it) and punk. I understand where you're coming from, because a large part of music that is not gothic or metal is comercialised and therefore...pure shit XD But at the same time, there are rap songs that express the same emotions but in a different style, being totally uncomercial as well.

The difference: Emo is a label used for kids (-17) and goth, for everyone who is older... (Don't flame me, 'k? I'm just kidding.^^) But know people say 'emo' as if it were a bad thing... I mean, goth is used to characterize a lot of bands - such labellisation would force me to place Evanescence, My dying bride, ToT and WT on the same level... and it'd be a total mess as you can't compare them - I don't think so anyway.
