don't avoid constant motion (it's a song on their most recent album, systematic chaos). i'd say start at their most recent albums (Octavarium and Systematic Chaos). if you like what you hear, start listening to stuff from Images and Words and go in chronological order from there.

Everything from "Images and Words" to "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" is GODLY, end of story. You should also check out "Octavarium", there are some good songs in that album too. Their newest album "Constant Motion" was a huge disappointment so stay away from that one, good luck fellow Ytse Jammer ;)

Probably they say it because the vocalist is not really suited for this kind of vocals. Plus there is some mild anger and frustration in the original Pink Floyd studio-version vocals that are very important to the song and to the right interpretation of the lyrics.

Yeah I was so blown away by this, I listened to it so much just trying to figure out how they came up with it. It started to remind me of The Dregs the more I listened and then I actually got back into The Dregs and bought a bunch of their albums. I kept telling a vocalist in the band I was in at the time that it sounded like the Dregs and he was so against that idea since The Dregs were so old school. Then I read where John mentioned Steve Morse as a major influence.

Dream theater is not a little band they are actually famous all around the world. Secondly this video was made during their short stint with mtv which was in the early 90s. Dream Theater is special and unique because the are one of the few rock bands who became extremly famous without the help of the media or more specifically mtv.
