I fucking love this guy. He is dead on. People think we take a big shit and there is a pallet of newspapers(that's what I print) thay have no freakin clue to the blood, sweet, and tears it takes to do a 3/4 million impressons in a 10 hour shift. With only 5 units of Headliner offset.the office boys are the worst they come back to the pressroom all better than us. With ther clean hands. Well I say fuckum. What would you classify as "DIY" methods? A heat gun works, although time consuming, and you can cure using a flash dryer as well which is much less than a conveyor dryer.

better than most i have seen, i am a screenprinter. you should have mentioned that if the emulsion seems hard to spray out you may have over exsposed your stencil. also you should explain pin holes and saw toothing as well as using tainted emulsion after coating should be kept seperate and could be used as a blockout device in lieu of tape. but tape does help in the cleaning and reclaiming process. mike

Pretty good tutorial, but I wouldn't recommend people to use spray tac unless your printing a bunch of hoodies. I use this glue similar to white school glue. You coat the pads with a hand squeegee and when they loose their stick, wipe clean with a wet rag. It works much better and spray tac is just gross.

emulsion remover is just a quick and easy way. spraying does take literally hours. i have to do it because im a student wiv no money lol. its prolly recommended to use the remover i was jus putting another option out there.

Don't know if that's a great idea. It's best to get an emulsion remover because sometimes water just doesn't work since the emulsion is meant to stand up against water during rinses.

I ran across information that says to make flexible solar panels you can use screen printing. Does anybody even know where I would get the reflective film from and where to get conductive ink? I also heard they can be printed on a home printer so I don't know why anyone would screen print when they can use a printer. Cupric oxide looks just like the powder in my laser printer. All I need is the material, print out 4000 sheets, encase them, wire them together and I am my own power company

i love this video, it's so funny! but if it's for first-time users, you should mention that the emulsion will need to be mixed with an activator. (i've just gone through four attempts with no luck because i didn't realize the emulsion needed to be mixed!) thanks, and great video once again! -emily

I'm a huge noob but I've screen printed over 100 t-shirts (10 of them 3 color using 3 small screens) using the very basic Speedball kit setup from a craft store (go ahead and laugh) and this helps explain how they pros do it, which helps me understand how to do the very basic things. Thank you for your video. All my stuff came out good, but I learned a huge lesson about black sweatshirts.

Subimination, over flashin may cause this. when the ink gets hot enough it will turn into a gas and will stick to whatever is closest, such as other colors. And in my experience the only reason why other colors arent lineing up, it could be use some more spray adhesive and let the shirt cool before doing the other colors. sometime you cant always rely on registration marks.

Ryan, I believe I can answer this one, if you put the shirts on top of each other after you have screen printed them without flash curing, you risk the possiblity of ink touching the other shirts and ruing the whole job.

probably you havent cured them enough but there are quite a few things to take into account. try more curing time and more temperature but on two different shirts. It's not that easy to get right but once you get the temperature and time right you're good to go. try a few different settings but it's almost always better to leave it in your curing unit a few more seconds.

Hi, you mention that in between colours, if their not touching you dont need to flash cure and that the build up of colour under neath the other screen is ok, but if ur using a thick ink like rubber or plastisol ink wont that build up eventually get bigger and bigger and ruin the shirt? what inks were you using in this video? rubber or plastisol i presume.. thanks for uploading this extremely informative video :) :)

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for the GREAT info. Keep up the great work. I was wondering what ink you recommend for t shirts: plastisol or water based speedball type? To me it seems like plastisol would be more permanent but has more of a noticeable hand. I can't hardly clean plastisol out of my screens though so it doesn't lend itself to switching ink colors readily.

i totally agree with you. i stared out printing for about a year now but when i saw your vid, i was moved! i never imagined that such materials and preparations were done very carefully. lucky for you guys you have all the resources needed for the job. in our country, we do things the " short cut way" so its too risky =(.. thanks so much for the vid, its so very helpful.

You can't take a picture of something and then just print it. You need to create a 3D computer model of the object. This can be done by using a 3D scanner as well which basically takes a 3d object "scans" it and then makes a computer model.
