Recently learned of the song from a PSB documentary, with Chris Lowe saying he played the 12" mix of this non-stop when it came out. As mentioned, the bass line of "In the Night" definitely gets its influence from here. The 7-note mini riffs definitely had to have influenced Harold Faltermeyer in writing the soundtrack to "Fletch" - the similarities are obvious. The first time I heard the song, I was underwhelmed (maybe because of the cheesy video). But it's definitely growing on me...

There is no way to spoil this film. I saw it a few years ago where the S.F. Symphony and a chorus performed a specially written score. They could have been playing and singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," it didn't matter. No wonder Rene Falconetti's performance is generally regarded as the finest on film.

Yes she has a backing track with her voice on it like having back up singer. thats not lip synching. Trust me ive seen videos where TV shows have made her lip synch and no afence She sucks at lip synching. And if she was she would get in major trouble for recording the whole song without permission. I really don't think she would get this far and lip synch She is so amazing. she wouldn't especialy if she new the concert would be taped. That would be really stupid.

It's an excellent video, it motivates and everything but after it's over, an extreme feeling of "what now?"-ness kicks in. She's talking in an incredible manner about nothing at all, which is actually ingenious. Women are not equal to men, as a liter of hydrogen is not equal to a hammer. We have different roles to play and paths to take. "Just do the thing you're good at and stop bitching" would have actually made more sense to me than this whole video. Still I respect the poetry she creates

power to the women, not the solution?? I ask you...are you a woman? As a woman, I have suffered at the hands and actions of men who used power to control. On my own without education or support I looked after my children, keeping them safe and providing food and education. The ability to survive arose from a nuturing and compassionate place....and...I had to be much, much stronger than a man to achieve that. That is the passion and strength that I believe is alluded to in this speech.
