I'd describe this song as a melancholy paean. It vividly evokes the tragedy of our mortality, while encouraging us to revel in every moment.. and(!) in the pain of the awareness of said mortality. I think it is a progression from Endless Skies. ES is about realizing you're alive; Further is about coming to terms with what it means to be alive. Both(!) are about thrilling in life; Further moreso. We aren't endless. Cherish every moment: Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Anywho, I've found this song as one of his most touching, and also one of the best ones, in the musical and lyrical sense. I've found that although the refrain tends to be darker, the overall jist of the song tends to be hopeful; something I've only found two artists able to do, VNV being the more skilled lyrically by the long shot. I've always taken this song in as both sad and hopeful, and each time I listen - depending on my mood - it hits me a different way. Definitely a favorite.

I think you have a point. I also must note that although there are those that really do find that the pop music (rap, R&B, etc.) that most VNV Nation listeners dislike is really good, there is the paramounting evidence of cliche in many of those listeners. There are few from those genres that actually listen for quality, rather, they listen because it's popular. I think that's the downfall. There are so many that do that, it's become commonplace.

I do the same. What I do tho is make a place list and listen to it very 2 difrent songs so It still makes me want to listen to them. ITs funny tho I know MUSE songs by heart but if its on the radio I can't help but drop what im doing and just listen to it.
