Even if you're not educated you know that racism is a much larger problem in Europe than in America if you are Muslim. America being a nation of immigrants accepts people of a minority faith more easily and peacefully than any other country. Also the fact that the US is not an ethnic state (ie think Germany is a state of and for the Germans, France for the French, Britain for the British). There are definite limits on who is ethnically British, German, etc. While there is a majority race (white, for the time being) in the US, few claim they are more american because of it.

If i was a muslim looking to immigrate for a better life for me and my family would i go to America or somewhere in europe? Your average european country has free healthcare, free education and pretty good social security and child welfare schemes. Most of these countries also have their hands tied for at least a year if you declare asylum. You can't expect to get the same in America, you need to have money already and if you do chances are you're educated and likey to fit in any culture.

As for integration, yes there were things that came up during the whole guest worker thing but these people were not meant to stay, hence guest worker. It wasn't a problem to let them have their own little home away from home, but all the problems and policies this guy speaks of are the problems and policies of 40 to 60 years ago. I don't see the point in comparing a war torn europe of 60 years ago to 2008 America.

But the point he makes about the ones coming to America being of richer backgrounds and the ones going to europe being more guest workers, or similar to a lot of Latinos in the US is a valid comparison due to it being based on proximity. Plus issues of Europe being the most liberal places on earth and Islamic countries being among the most conservative could also be a good broad comparison.
