Great Idea but why does everybody use a dish why not use a globe shape solar collector. Dishes always need to move but a ball shaped solar collecting, can get all angles on its panels. A application like a light hub, for your limitations of transfering the light across the entire building, just use a hub of collecting the energy and send it to a electric battery and then send it to the second floor.

Ironically, there is still no system that's cheaper than oil or coal. No family with an average household salary can build a solar system, including this system, and save money. Everyone who builds these systems always talk about critical mass to make these systems afordable, but we're now at 30 years and there's still no technology that can do it. It's disappointing.

build a rechargeable 9v battery connected to a solar panel that produces 9v with single pass diodes and you can have the panel run all day (and i guess night) and be able to move around even when there is not enough light at sunrise for the solar panel alone to move around, and you'll never have to replace the battery :D

Interesting innovation. I wonder, they mentioned that the 9V battery runs for ~ a week. Now, when it eventually runs out of energy does it recharge itself using solar panels? That is, if the 9V battery is rechargeable in the first place. Anyways, fiber optic lighting is an old innovation. The only difference here is that the person decided to concentrate pure sunlight through a lens which is attached to fiber optics. Still a great power saver!

You are right fiber optics could work in a underground grow operation cut your lighting cost in half. I bet utilities and DEA use your electric consumption, your utility bill and your homes temperature as a barometer to who is growing at home. I conclude this because that is how they find weed from the air it has a specific temp different from other plants. ive seen the hub motors for direct drive,, im looking for a hub motor that is in the drive position on the bike... it would work better on a 26" bike and the charge would last longer and the derailer could also contain a charger?? extending the distance of the bike this way motor would not only drive the bike but the charger with same power output. i believe this is derection we need to take..thank you

I run four batteries, which is good for about 25 miles at 20 mph. I purchased four dewalt chargers on ebay, one for each battery and mounted them together to make a charging station for 1 hour charges. Batteries holding up very well for almost two years now. Don't try to build one on your own unless you are comfortable with trouble shooting DC electric circuits (and own and know how to use a multimeter).

The Mongoose is just a low end cheap mountain bike with an aluminum frame and a decent front disc brake. It works fine for city riding. Wouldn't recommend it for real mountain biking. Any bike works. Just bolt the motor, controller, and batteries on and go.

Ok, look... I love the original, one of my favorite songs. I also happen to be a Deadmau5 fan and love this version as well! A remix doesn't always have to sound identical to the original, it's up to the creativity of the remixer. Just like when someone takes a slow song and turns it into a dance track. It wasn't intended for that purpose but someone got creative and changed it up a bit. Hybrid's original and Deadmau5's version both have their places. Both versions are great IMHO!

People dont like it because they associate there love of this style of music with when they was listening to trance or whatever years ago. Then somoene with such a modern twist remixes it, of course the old trancers are gunna be here in numbers slagging it off, its natural. I own a camry hybrid and I must say it is fun to drive... Its luxurious (for the money) and not that great for pickup but i mean its a v4.. The stock sound system is just awesome i dont even bother upgrading. All in All its better then most of the other hybrid sedans....

so wait, the spark on the second cylinder fires when the intake valve is still open? Not good. This design has big flaws and the one biggest flaw is fuel does not fire instantly. It takes time for the air/fuel to start burning and expand so firing after tdc is not efficient as unburned fuel is still being blown out the tail pipe. This is the basic principal behind the HHO (run your car on water) hybrid idea (that actually does work)!!!

This is not a bad design, it uses a lot of the time the engine isn't being worked to store the compression in air that can be used to move the cylinders. No outrageous claims really, it is an engine and compressor. Would be complex to get the timing and controls, but at least they didn't claim "over-unity" or anything silly! It is similar to the older opposing cylinder engine used in ships and trains way back, but for the added compressor and storage which is significant. Thanks.

It just sounds like a lot of speculation to me. the thing about this engine is- its 2cylinders doing 2 strokes each 2x2=4 this is the same as 1 cylinder doing 4 strokes 1x4=4. that fact that it is double the parts and transfering fluids around, there is no way it is as efficient as a 4stroke or diesel for that matter. just because they have a patent doesnt mean they have a great product.

This seems to be a remake of an old design, with the air tank added. Theoretically it might be of some use though. The liquid makes more whirlpools as passes through, which humbles injection power slightly, but migth yield better results in vaporization, decreasing the fuel consumption. But various calculations should be made to see if the energie gained by beter vaporization compensates for the energy lost in the increased friction. Plus timing will be more crucial than in the Otto engines...

Saw the design on the Engine Expo. It seems as if the firing after top dead center eliminates the issue of compressing the gas twice. I guess that if they can make this thing run as they promise at a 30% reduction in fuel we might see them in cars someday..... Heat issue seems to be solved as the engineer told me. The only extraordinary about it is that they need to use synthetic lubricates and air actuated valves.

If by "worse" you mean less efficient, then right on. Rotaries do have advantages, such as their compact size. If I remember correctly the RX-7 had a 1.3 liter engine producing something like 300bhp.

st0pes is incorrect, Acura uses the same MusicLink with the same software that creates the voice titles, crashes iTunes, no artist or song titles, no rewind or fast-forward, and costs 375. On the plus side, there are no messy wires around, it keeps the iPod charged, its hidden, and comes on instantly. Its not perfect, but I wouldn't give it up, except for maybe an in-dash dvd player I know of that lets you see mp3 artists and titles.

I was one of the first customers and found it a pleasure doing business with Pat. He knows his stuff and provides answers. The bike has been fun, exciting and useful. I have no problem getting it over 20 mph if I want. Going uphill is no problem. Had both knees operated not long ago and haven't been able to bike for exercise. This allows me to get exercise in without overdoing it. You should pedal before accelerating anyway. I find myself just pedaling along anyway just to keep the legs going.
