No, I don't disagree with you - boosted rotaries are powerful pieces of engineering, however I wouldn't be so quick to rule out the supercharged Honda engine. As to which is more a superior choice... that would be up to the market. If I wanted a balls out race rocket.. A turbo rotary would be perfect. But for a road registered and/or daily driven version... no, a supercharged Honda engine would be plenty enough for most!

A version of the RX8 had the bad habit of its engine flooding with petrol if you turned it off when it was cold without leaving it to idle for about 30 secs. Maybe he was trying to get it to do this? (I believe all Rx8s have rotary engines)

Nah, they just doen't care about american cars in general. And don't go to the "It is faster than a Veyron" argument, because it might be, but is isn't as heavy and luxurious, well balanced and not even close to as well made as the Veyron. The Saleen is fast, and that is cool, but the Veyron is perfect on all fronts!

I have to say, I would love to drive this car. But I live in the US and do not really want it to come here. Cause as everyone has said, "the US screws up any vehicle that makes it to our shores" So with that being said, This car does look rather amazing. I do have to say one thing. Agreed. All American car companies do now is drop the biggest engines they can fit under the hood in, so they have good straight line speed, but they blow overall. Even the Japanese cars are starting to weigh too much although they aren't as bad as American. Cars in Australia, Japan, and Europe or sooo much nicer. We just get the shitty Americanized versions of all these cars.

Unfortunately it's not legal to do that in the US >:( lol I've always had European cars though (2 Volkswagens and an old BMW) and I really like them. We have plenty of German cars to choose from here, but we hardly get any of the Diesel options (only a few Mercedes-Benz and the VW Jetta) and most other European makes left the US market. We used to get Peugeots, Citroëns, Renaults, Fiats, Alfas, and Opels but nobody bought them. Fiat and Alfa-Romeo are supposed to return in 2010 though. :D

Sorry, used my brother's (he forgot to log off) account to reply. What I mean that the car Jeremy is talking about is much slower than the M6, but the one he is sitting in is the Vantage version is as fast (and more maneuvrable). The M6 is an extremely heavy car with loads of electronics that leech on its 500 BHP V10 (even if put it in 500+ sport mode). The 414BHP M3 is exactly as fast as it's big brother. It goes through a dry mountain road as fast as the 380BHP V8 Vantage does it in rain.

OK, explaining the 4th time: Jeremy is talking about the 338BHP (I6) pathetically slow version sitting in the 420BHP version. I am talking about the 420 BHP version while sitting on a wooden chair... The 420HP (V12 Vantage Version) IS as fast as the BMW ///M6 in a straight line, both cars hit 60 m/h (100k/h) in 4.6 seconds and the quartemile in 13. On a twisty road, the Aston has the advantage due to the fact that the Aston is 460 kg lighter. The Aston has a better drag coeff. too.

sorry for double posting, but the car was sooo much ahead of its time!! I consider it the best mid performance GT ever for that: the DB7's performance was easily outdone as time went on, but this, after almost 10 years remains a beauty and a rocket!! Ask me, the DB7 V12 should be a meterstick for mid-performance GT cars, just like the Porsche Carrera is for sportscars... PS (no relation to video): but are you Russian? (?? ???????? ??-???????)

Yes, but the point is not in that.. the Inline 6 version (1997) produces 338 hp and went to 60 in mid/ upper five seconds. The I6 version was overpriced and underpowered, so they decided to use two ford mondeo engines to create a 420 hp V12 and in 1999 the car was launched As demonstrated by Clarkson and some other vehicle testers this car could be launched to60 in just 4.6 sec.. That is awesome in 1999, It can outperform most current GTs and is potentially as fast as BMW M6 (500 hp)

LOL did I see a Vantage badge on that thing he is driving? That thing is a DB7 Vantage, not an inline 6 DB7. It's engine isn't old, and it is a V12 from 2 Ford Mondeos worth 420 bhp!!! And that car is awesome: You can launch it to 60 from a standstill in 4.6 seconds, (same as new DB9/ Ferrari 360/BMW M6) This car would DESTROY most luxo-GT cars of the day (aka:Maserati Granturismo/ Maser. GT S) Way to mix up cars, Jeremy!! :) (maybe he did not have an I 6 DB7 that he described in this film)
