The Fuel cell Equinox has a cruising range of 160 miles. The BMW Hydrogen 7 has a cruising range of over 200 miles. The Toyota FCHV has a range of over 300 miles. Electric cars and plug-in hybrids can more than handle the demand for the around town commuter but engineers are looking at Hydrogen to REPLACE the need for a gasoline powered vehicle COMPLETELY. And yes according to Bob Carter, Toyota Division VP and General Mgr., hydrogen powered cars have had issues with starting in cold weather.

I think you have the privilege of commenting also. That is what this is: a forum for discussion. I strongly favor Independence from foreign oil but I realize the technology to do so even if we had strong leadership would take 5 to 10 years to implement and more than likely will take 20 to 30. So when I ask myself what the USA can to in the meantime to avoid paying $12 for a gallon of gas in ten years, drilling is a part of the very short term solution.
