For example: if you want to gain money invest in stocks, to keep the value of money invest in gold, to lose money hold the dollar. This is all relative to this particular time of hardship, but generally holds true. The exception is that the stock market is struggling to keep up. I agree with you on foreign stocks, but since the dollar is so far widespread, that can only last so long.

Fairly true but inflation isn't the only thing that determines the price of goods; supply and demand play a part. In America while inflation is rising, income is basically staying put; people are being payed without the adjustment for inflation. So while the oil company adjusts for inflation, you can't afford to consume as much and thus your demand drops. If demand drops, sales drop, and income drops (sure there will be people willing to make pay the difference, but people can only cope so much)

Stocks in dollars falling because of bad sentiment over the dollar, not the companies whose stock is being traded. Most usa companies will still make good profits, but people don't want the dollars dividends are paid in... they want the value that's paid not the paper it's written on! Buy non-us stocks & get a double boost. Income (dividends) in a non-falling currency + as the dollar falls, an inflation hedge by NOT being in dollars for both dividend & stock value! World still eats & drives!

plzhelpj : Stocks DO protect income. The dividend they give rises in line with inflation! eg. Oil is $90 a barrel. You pay $x for a gallon of gas. Now dollar weakens so oil rises to $100 a barrel; same oil costs more dollars. If you still pay $x a gallon for gas they effectively dropped their price... so they raise it to $x+y. They'll do this so that their income, in international terms, remains the same while in dollars, they've 'inflated' the price! Besides, gold doesn't give dividends!

I see your point about "standing still", but when everything else is falling that seems to be the best option. If stocks are bought with dollars, doesn't it make sense that stocks will fall with the dollar? If income could be raised so easily, why aren't all companies doing better than they are now? Stocks don't protect against inflation, they are best used for generating income; that's why it's a bad idea to leave your money in a bank account.

For all the people living pay check to pay check, like me: Buy Alcohol and cigarettes. Go to the local drug store like Rite Aide or Walgreens, and buy whatever is on sale. If you live in a Hispanic neighborhood, then buy Tequila. If you live in a white neighborhood, then buy Scotch and Vodka. They will be worth there weight in gold when the dollar collapses. I understand the video PERFECTLY. If you want to stand still, buy gold. If you want an inflation hedge, which seems to be the point of holding something other than deteriorating dollars, buy stocks. A company's income can be raised, by raising prices in line with costs & dividends in line with income. Stocks rise with inflation, dividends rise with inflation too. Dollars are garbage, sure, but gold is just a way of standing still as far as I can see.

What I find contradictory is that therealweeklynews makes the point that Nixon was the "worst president" and mentions one of his wisest moves in the same breath. It is not. That was the only way to give the new paper money value that people could count on when it was first introduced. Then when it's value was established, the vid is correct in saying that they took the US dollar off the standard so they could print more without having to back it. The economy in the 70's slumped badly due to this, but eventually recovered due to US industries growing etc.

I actually agree with Outkast to an extent. Save for Elzhi, SV isn't the best group of rappers. However, they had so much personality and energy that you couldn't help but feel what they were doing. Those cold ass Dilla beats didn't hurt either. Don't get me wrong, I have all the Slum albums, but they're nowhere near GOAT's. Can someone tell me how corporatism strays from the free market? From what I understand, a corporation is a company that is recognized as an individual. It is also a type of business that gets its funds and capital through selling stock. This sounds very much like a free market system and I don't see anything wrong with it.
