My opinion of this song is that man questions God's existence in light of everyday tragedies of human existence and unanswered prayers, and this is a man that's reached his limit and questioning why God does not intervene. I absolutely hate that people think Robert Smith was the originator of this kind of look. Siouxie was doing it back in the 70's!!! Also, it was just a very punk rock type of look from the 77 era of punk that got mainstreamed later on just like everything else. It's great to see this video to remind me of what real music is.
