I look after the maintenance on a couple of similar cranes in Australia so I know what's involved. Everytime they are put up, there are huge amounts of inspections to be done prior. If done properly they are very safe. I loved the vid too as you normally don't see it sped up. Well done mate.

Just a reminder to people new to origami that this is NOT the easiest origami out there. Start with the simpler shapes - the cup or the dove. If you really just want to start with the crane, I have a separate video up with is a VERY SLOW version of the crane that you might find more easy.

I think you might be confused :) I've done a lot of testing and with a light color you can't see *anything* - the fold lines wash out and are not visible. If you don't understand how the folds work here, did you try my "super slow version" for beginners? That might be more your speed!

I apologise for some confusion. The Joisel crane does start with a bird base however there are a couple of steps that I did not film. The third last step in the traditional crane is to fold up the tail and head sections however with the Joisel model, he makes the head section thinner by refolding the head part so that it is half as thin as the tail part before inside reversing both sections. I hope this helps resolve any confusion.
