Assuming the fundamental belief that the 10 commandments are the dictated word of god then demanding the death penalty is wrong. So considering what most of what you said talked about human imposed laws to deal with divinely imposed laws - I think what you really mean to say is that human nature is repulsive. Human nature perverted the goodness of the 10 commandments. All you really convinced me of is that literal interpretation of ANYTHING leads to repulsiveness.

Prove to me that god exists!
By: Schmoikel. on 07 Sep 08, 06:06:49
Actually, I did read what you wrote. I felt that I addressed it. The scholars you mentioned are indeed 'debatable'. With regards to your statement about most info being lost does not strengthen your argument. However, absence of evidence is not evidence for absence.
By: BlackCalvinist. on 07 Sep 08, 05:23:07
Rather have either one of them than a ranting, raving, hate-filled individual like yourself. Look at your own tone. You're more 'fundamentalist' about your beliefs than they are about theirs....you want people to die because you disagree with them ? You're worse than the people you hate. Hypocrite.
By: ThaMahstah. on 06 Sep 08, 16:28:28
It should be noted however that many writings from that period are lost. Even the great histories of Tacitus have survived in only two manuscripts, which together contain scarcely half of what he is believed to have written. Not to mention that the life of Jesus wasn't considered important from a Roman perspective, so not much would be written anyway. Even so, most scholars today don't question that a jew named Jesus son of Joseph existed.
By: ThaMahstah. on 06 Sep 08, 16:28:07
Um, I didn't say that, and based on your post you completely ignored everything I said, so I'll say it all again. There are Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius, and Pliny the Younger, but those are debatable, as is everything if you want it to be.
By: Schmoikel. on 06 Sep 08, 15:50:21
Which further proves my point. You said 'cannot deny the existence..." and by your own statements you confirm that it cannot be proven. Of course biblical scholars are going to say jesus existed. I would be inclined to believe that a man named jesus did in fact exist. I asked for any contemporaries that mention jesus, you provided none. I'm not here to say jesus never existed. But there is little to no evidence to support such a claim.

"You cannot deny the existence of the man named Jesus about 2000 years ago" Care to try and prove that statement? Name some contemporary historians that wrote of jesus.

jesus aint god u dicks ..he never said he was u do ..man made changed 5 MAJOR REVISIONS
By: yankinCanada. on 06 Sep 08, 10:24:00
schott, Jesus can't pay for another man's sins. You said jesus is god and god is the one who requires death as payment for sin. God kills himself to pay himself? What is death to a god anyway? This was a phony show put on to instill guilt in the idiotic who can't see through this nutty paradigm. It would be cruel coercion if it wasn't such a silly premise. Putting aside the immorality of this charade it is quite funny to think that this idea would go over as logical or profound in any way.
By: schott24x. on 06 Sep 08, 10:06:47
Yankin I do agree with you that no man can pay for the misdeeds of another man. What I said was that Jesus paid for our sins. I am not insulting you in anyway, but I personaly believe that Jesus Was God in human form which in no way makes him like you and I. You cannot deny the existence of the man named Jesus about 2000 years ago, but wether you want to believe he was just a man or the real messiah the OT speaks of, is up to you.

Reading the Bible helped to affirm my non-belief.
By: yankinCanada. on 06 Sep 08, 08:59:32
schott, You would think that an entity that exists outside of the boundaries of space and time would have more beautiful, majestic and timeless statements to make than do not covet your neighbor's oxen and asses. No man can truly pay for the misdeeds of another. Blood sacrifice is perversion. The guilty party is still the guilty party. It is immoral to think otherwise because it attempts to suspend personal responsibility in individuals. Step away from this offense to human decency.
By: schott24x. on 06 Sep 08, 08:21:59
Are you tryng to make yourself look like an idiot?? this was the dumbest video ever!! the ten commandments are a great solid foundation but everything leads up to the new testiment. Where jesus takes the place of our sin so we dont have to die for these things that we all do!!
By: gabonicabitis. on 06 Sep 08, 08:16:02
No there isn't rb4jb99, the bible is a work of fiction, old and new testament. If you have actually read it then you would know this.
By: rb4jb99. on 06 Sep 08, 07:36:21
Obviously the creator of this video has never read the Bible in its entirety and does not understand the correlation and differences between the Old and New Testaments. Almost every one of the examples used here are from the Old Testament which was done away with when Jesus the Christ died. A study of the book of Hebrews would make this clear. They are still examples to us of how God feels about sin and although punishment for sin is not immediate anymore, there is a Judgment coming. R U Ready?
By: yankinCanada. on 06 Sep 08, 04:03:09
pinoy, "yankin should we respect the people who hate on god and hate on christans?" Hating on god is absurd. Hating a christian because they call themselves a christian is bigotry, hating religion is fair game. No one is above being challenged for their ideas and opinions. Respect is honoring intellectual honesty, virtue and truth with integrity. I can say I know a god you have never heard of and I can insist it is the one true god. Religion is cheap, therefore it has no inherent virtue.
By: yankinCanada. on 06 Sep 08, 03:46:18
seeker, The Amish keep to themselves and have created a world within a world and they certainly are not asking their representatives to offend the constitution. They seek no favor, they seek no privilege, they don't try to impinge their beliefs on me through law for my own good. They want to be left alone in peace and that is great. It is only your opinion as to what a rational judgment is so I am not concerned because you see, you are no expert on rationality. Far from it.
By: RyanLeeParis. on 06 Sep 08, 03:20:28
You have to realize, in most, if not all, of those examples, it is the writer of the book saying that. They are not saying it's God's words. I'm not going to claim I know what those verses mean, but you may have taken them out of context. People should be able to read the whole chapter and make up their mind what exactly those examples are saying.
By: gabonicabitis. on 06 Sep 08, 02:12:06
Hi ThaMastah, well I'm glad that you do take the rantings of seeker as a warning, and of course I don't expect you do consider mine as much better. But at least keep an open mind, you are of a younger generation and open to change, seeker does not know any better and if he does not get help he will have hated his life away on an imaginary notion.
By: gabonicabitis. on 06 Sep 08, 02:03:12
How nice to see seeker is filled with the compassion he receives from his god. An embittered old man who uses their religion as justification for hate, like so many christians. The guise of tolerance you mention is actually applicable for religion, we have all tolerated it for long enough and like smoking it is time for it to leave society. In generations to come it will be seen for what it is: Mythology.
