I miss that wonderful man. He was a gent I had met him a couple of times and he was so down to earth. NC state should be ashamed what they did to him. But he took it so easily he is a better man than me. RIP Jimmy V.

Great speech. Jimmy was a courageous man who fought his illness right to the end. This speech was 7 weeks before he died, but he still had the heart from his coaching days. May he RIP.

Cheating IS bad, but it does not make you a bad person, nor does it define you. Everyone in the entire world does bad/wrong things every single day. What defines you as a person is how you bounce back from the wrong you've done, or the wrong that's been done to you. 1st: Cheating doesn't necessarily make you a bad person 2nd: Facing your own mortality does in fact change you 3rd: His foundation has raised millions for cancer research, which indirectly has saved thousands of lives, and this speech has played a large part in that. I also guarantee you this has inspired thousands of people to fight on. In short: No, he may not have always been the greatest person, but he took a bad situation and made great things happen. All this makes him a great person.

Ok Moronovich. Jimmy V. was cleared of any wrongdoing by every body which investigated him including the NCAA and the NC General Attorney. I never knew him personally and as a Duke b-ball fan I have no motivation to call him a good guy. The fact is that for him to make this speech in his condition which such passion just proves his genuine appreciation of life. As much as I hate State this speech is something that should be on the minds of everyone. Just beautiful.

This speech is without a doubt the best speech I have ever heard On that night Coach Valvano started a movement that will never end; a movement to one day cure cancer. I encourage everyone to view this video at least once in their lifetime. If this video doesn't move you to tears nothing ever will.
