Do democrats understand that banning guns in public areas is making them more dangerous? Criminals with guns look for places where people are completely without any guns and therefore defenseless. Notice that many fatal shootings take place in areas where guns are banned? If teachers with licenses could have guns in school, kids could be safer. Has anyone ever heard of a shooting at a gun show or store? No. Before someone could get a good aim, they would be shot dead. I also like to hunt.

OK, I did some research, and McCain did NOT vote to continue water-boarding, he just didn't agree to the specifics of the ban that was being voted on. He is still against water-boarding, but he felt that it already IS clearly illegal, and a ban wasn't necessary. I agree, though I would have still voted for the ban.

Well, we should start with some kind of government program, and squander as much tax dollars as we can on it. Then, when that doesn't work blame republicans for it's failure. If at all possible, we should try to lower living standards for the entire country so old people can be assured health care when they are going to die anyway, at the cost of several hundred thousand of tax payer dollars. At the end of the day, this isn't an issue about the social acceptance of homosexuality, this is about mutual respect between the gay community and religious groups. Interesting question, and a complicated issue. Obviously, the most demanded gay right is the right to marry. Whilst I think it's perfectly fine for same-sex couples to enter legal agreements and receive the same benefits as heterosexual couples, we have to accept that marriage is essentially a religious concept. Therefore, I think one is justified in using religion as a reason to deny full-blown marriage as a gay right, but not a civil agreement.

They should ban all laws that treat people who are married differently then if they were single. Then it wouldnt matter because the government wouldnt recognize any marriage. It would also stop the treatment of single people as second class citizens. A married person can claim twice the tax standard deduction as a single person. Encouraging people to get married as soon as possible is the reason the divorce rate is high. They should only let people above 25 get child and marriage benefits.

I was a Christian for many years, well into adulthood. Looking back, I found that there are good people and bad people in all groups, with or without religion. I must say, though, that Christians always "blamed" their faith for any bias or bigotry. They never owned their hate, it was always "because God says this or God says that". I never heard God say a single word. All of the mean spirited instructions accredited to Scripture came from humans, regular people who claim to follow Christ.
