I hated them back then 'cause I was a punk kid who like the Jackson 5...but their songs stuck in my head anyway...especially this one. I was talking to a friend a few days ago and, trying to remove any age bias from the equation, we both agreed that the decade of 1965-1975 was the best musical era ever, and this song is just one reason why. This is the best R&B song I've ever heard. Cuba Gooding, Sr. sang this with so much emotion, and I LOVE the backing vocals. Anything? Whatever; I'm glad you like Marcus, so do I. As we know, each decade or period has it's own peculiarities. Marcus Miller was obviously influenced by the 70's and 80's as a young guy - which is fine. I happen to like a lot of music from then, but I don't like a lot of the tech pop sounds that went along with it. There are some who would agree with that and others who wouldn't - which is also fine. But I wouldn't go swearing at other people about it ;)

This is a nice listening album - if you can get past the (very) 80's sounding instrumentation (eg, keyboards, drum-machine). GB has some well-crafted solos. EK contributes well with his compositions and melodic delivery. My favourite track is Mimosa (a GB composition).
