To OP: Oh pah-leeease. The 60's were dominated just as much by sex and violence as in 2008, if not more. As princesst said, things have always been the same. You think these girls were screaming their heads off just because they liked the music? See: sex appeal. Don't let it pass your memory so quick that The Beatles took LSD -- How does that fit into your memory of this righteous time? On a side note, I love their music. a very interesting fact about this performance... this was one of the few tv appearances where they "mimed" (term epstein used) to the music. epstein was worried about how they would sound with live music, obviously because of the screaming fans. but it wasn't to the actual album track. it was a track especially recorded for this tv appearance. smart thinking.

what you're referring to here is different than what Paul McCartney mentioned. Paul was referring to a club appearance that Jimi did back in 1967 when Sgt Pepper was released. Jimi did a song off of that album as a tribute to the Beatles the same day the album was released. this footage here of Jimi playing Sgt Pepper is from 1970 at the Isle of Wight festival.

It is true what Frank said and what he said was Something is a great song by Lennon and McCartney. He just assumed they wrote it. Alot of people probably made the same mistake. I'ts been stated that George wrote Something for Pattie, but their relationship was shot by then. What is Life seems to be written for Pattie as well if you listen to the lyrics. I never heard George acknowledge he wrote any songs for anyone, but he obviously did.

Its a tremolo arm, you can use it pitch bend the strings either down or up (more commonly down as not all arms allow upwards bend, and then only a small amount). If you look closely lennon's guitar also has one but its a much smaller arm and he has bent it down out of the way, they actually rarely used them on any records.

If you want to see an even better performance of this (in my opinion), check out the live version McCartney did in 93 on youtube. Paul with all his tooth nicely capped, and what a damn bass player he is. Lennon always said that McCartney's bass playing and Ringo's drumming were rudely underrated. He never had alot of use for George's guitar playing, though. Go figure. RIP John and George.

The motorcycle accident in which McCartney (the Beautiful Beatle) suffered a nasty cut on the lip and broken tooth is what actually gave legs to the Paul is Dead rumors in 69, that he died and was replaced by a double at that time. This song was produced because the Beatles were under pressure to put out a song by Capital according to their single per quarter Capital contract, and he really came through, while Lennon was practically incapacitated by acid at the time.
