Mark doesn't need sweep arpeggios, fast tapping licks or distortion pedals to be amazing...

I saw somewhere an interview with Mark in which the interviewer stated that he was ranked 28th in the world. My God, how can 27 people play BETTER than this? I just don't believe it. He's the best I've ever seen. He commented in the interview that a pick acts as an amplifier when players don't have amplifiers. Finger picking is far more difficult, but it's also far more pleasing to the ears.

I grow up on this. I first heard it when it came out, I was aged 7. Even today it is just as important to me. I love lots of music but this is in my heart forever.

i think i was misunderstood... i got 8 downvotes, so i have to clear it up... i wasnt saying that mark knopflers use of the same line twice was gay... i was saying the fag that quoted it the way he did was completely uncalled for... oh, and i was deliberately also criticizing the retard who double-posted the retarded "WHAT A GUITAR!!!"... i dont know if he doesnt speak english or was simply admiring the guitar.... but its the guitarist that makes the guitar, not the other way around... blah

Okay, we all agree Knopfler is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, but let's not forget, that's a kick ass piano solo in the end. Also good drummer. I'm a die hard classic country fan, but good music is good music. I hope God lets us have some of the music in Heaven we had down here on Earth. This is so relaxing and those people clapping in the slow part just about ruined it.

bornbillsmith, my comment was made in reply to srtatocsterex saying he thought Knopfler was the best guitarist to play without a pick. Hope this now makes more sense.
By: bornbillsmith. on 24 Aug 08, 07:13:53
I don't understand your comment. Not that it matters but I don't see Knopfler holding his prick (excuser me I meant pick) But really why must we compare.
By: pmeswe. on 19 Aug 08, 11:05:02
The video is released on VHS and is called alchemy and is from the same concert as the CD. But I think there is a bit out of sync on this rip.
